Borsch
红[菜]汤 hóng[cài]tāng, 罗宋汤 luósòngtāng
This soup has two features: it is sweet and sour and it is better to eat it on the second day. Besides, for a Chinese friend such soup will be extremely strange. Usually there is a lot of meat in the soup, so the soup becomes thick, so we usually like to eat it on the second day with the words "it has steeped". There are no noodles in the soup, the carbohydrates are provided by potatoes, and the third, depending on the cook, is a set of vegetables. And despite the fact that we call it soup, in the house of a sincere housewife you can hardly sip the soup a little. Basically, you need to eat it spoon. But of course, this is not always the case, I do not argue.
Pancakes
薄饼 báobǐng
Traditionally, it is a good sweet breakfast. Although it is not always served with red caviar, as foreign friends may think, but what you may not know for sure is that it is not the most delicious way to serve it. Much tastier is a pancake with condensed milk. (Do you know what condensed milk is?) The types of sauces in which you can dip the pancake, some call it "dakalka", can be both sweet and salty.
What's great about pancakes is that you can use anything you have in the fridge as topping. We usually use sweet sauces: jam, preserves, sour cream and their derivatives and mixes.
Syrniki
Nǎizhābǐng
Another variant of the name is tvorozhniki. These are flour products made from cottage cheese and flour, usually breakfast or dessert, but for some it can be a main dish (for me, for example). Similar to pancakes, they are eaten with sweet toppings. Most often sour cream or condensed milk.
Pilaf
羊肉饭 yángròufàn, 抓饭 zhuāfàn, 羊肉手抓饭 yángròushǒuzhuāfàn
An East Asian dish. Where I come from, the most common version is Uzbek plov, but I would not like to divide these cuisines or, even worse, say whose is better. The main thing is that this dish can be called "ours" but came from the East. To taste good plov, it must be cooked by an adult man (aksokal) over a fire.
Mashed potatoes + cutlet
English + French
Despite the fact that mashed potatoes with a cutlet are mentioned last, I want to note for the reader that “mashed potatoes with a cutlet” should be the most typical dish for every Russian, especially those who grew up in the post-Soviet space.
Mashed potatoes and cutlets. There is nothing easier! Of course, no one who peels potatoes will say so. Mashed potatoes are made from any potatoes, big and small, and even spoiled ones, and they always look good. You just need to know how much butter and salt to add. And cutlets can be stored as minced meat in the refrigerator for a long time and wait for their time.
